Author of Depp v Heard: the unreal story and The Great Post Office Scandal

Award-winning Investigative journalist Nick Wallis brought the Post Office scandal to public attention via three Panoramas, a long-running international award-winning Radio 4 series and podcast (The Great Post Office Trial), his book The Great Post Office Scandal, and his work as the series consultant on Mr Bates vs The Post Office.

He now speaks regularly to corporate and lay audiences about the extraordinary injustice that saw sub-postmasters wrongly imprisoned for theft, false accounting and fraud.

Nick Wallis is an award-winning freelance journalist and broadcaster. He has worked with the BBC, Private Eye and ITN. His Radio 4 series on The Post Office Scandal has been nominated for national awards.

Nicks second book, Depp v Heard: The Unreal Story came out in May 2023. Nick was the only journalist on the ground at both the UK and the US trials so no one is better placed to try and make sense of this story.

In London he live-tweeted from inside the court, securing and publishing daily transcripts of proceedings. In doing so he connected with millions of people who followed his reporting on social media. Nick was the first to tell the world that Depp had lost against the Sun and that hed failed in his application to appeal.

Nick then crowdfunded his way to Virginia for the second trial, embedding himself as an independent reporter, witnessing all the evidence whilst engaging with the media throng and the fans. As coverage of the trial snowballed, turning Depp v Heard into the first Trial by TikTok, Nick experienced the effect it had on everyone involved inside and outside the courtroom.

The book seeks to tell the definitive story of the saga, one that transfixed millions of people. In the engaging, page-turning style of his first book Nick sets up the legal drama, weaves his own reportage through the story and analyses of the evidence to unearth the real truth behind Depp v Heard.
