We were asked by long-standing clients September Publishing to introduce the inspiring story of Dutch dementia care campaigner Teun Toebes to the U.K. ahead of the release of his translated non-fiction book, The Housemates. Whilst studying Higher Vocational Education nursing and Care Ethics and Policy in Holland, Teun was introduced to dementia care and began living amongst those with the condition on a closed ward in a nursing home. After writing about his experience in The Housemates and campaigning for more compassion in worldwide approaches to dementia care, Teun has won several awards for his work and initiatives, such as for his role in the creation of the Article 25 Foundation.
An announcement was secured in The Bookseller reflecting September Publishing’s acquisition of the book and decision to translate it for a U.K. audience. The publication of Teun’s book was then supported by the first extract running in The Telegraph, followed by interviews and reviews in The Observer, Daily Mail, The Times, The Express followed by an interview on BBC 5 Live. We also secured Teun slots to speak at festivals such as The Oxford Literary Festival. Teun’s book The Housemates is now an international best-seller.
